Hi My name is Jaime Miramontes, I'm the counselor at Ivy and Oasis high school. I was born and raised in Fallbrook and went to La Paloma from kindergarten to 6th grade. Potter for 7th and 8th grade then graduated from Fallbrook High School. After Fallbrook High School I went on to Palomar college where I played one year of baseball.
My wife and I have 4 children and we live in Fallbrook. I believe what piqued my interest in pursuing a career in school counseling was the positive contacts I had with my counselors. When I was a young man, I needed support in college decision-making. Mr. Weibal, my high school counselor, was very positive and gave me confidence that I had the grades to succeed in college. My Palomar college counselor was also very supportive in saying that I had the grades to transfer to a university. The positive contacts with my counselors influenced me to pursue my career as a counselor. I hope that I have made an impact on students the way my counselors made on me.
I genuinely love my job and look forward to coming to work daily. The best part of my job is observing my students' development and growth. I believe any and all students have the ability to graduate from high school and succeed in college. Not every student has to transfer to a university. However, every student needs to take advantage of some type of post-secondary training to enhance their future earnings.
